The AMU decision has generated shock waves in Malegaon where efforts to get the centre established in the region were on for the last three years. One of the most backward areas in Maharashtra and the only town in the state with more than 75% Muslim population, Malegaon thought establishment of the AMU centre here would compensate for the losses and negligence of the last sixty years.
