In the 17-page judgment dated May 28, 2013, a copy of which is available with ummid.com, Justice M.S.A. Siddiqui, Chairman of the National commission for Minority Educational Institution (NCMEI) while granting the university the minority institution status said, "The Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, Rampur is a minority educational Institution within the meaning of Section 2(g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act. A certificate be issued accordingly."
